You Cannot Remain Youthful Without Healthy Levels Of Muscle

The latest research is changing how health professionals view the importance of muscle mass. No longer seen simply in terms of performance or vanity, it is now becoming known that this highly active tissue is the mechanism for remaining youthful right through our life span. Our muscle tissue also serves as the body's armor against life threatening diseases such as heart problems, diabetes, and even cancer that could well cut our life short without this protection.

Only a small percentage of adults are doing enough to keep their muscles strong and are setting themselves up for a downward spiral of accelerated aging and the risk of premature and preventable disease.

By living a no exercise lifestyle by the time you reach 60 years old, you may have lost up to 50% of your muscular strength and lung capacity. As well as a decline in the immune system diminished muscle strength and mass is also linked to weaker bones, stiffer joints, and slumping postures along with a decline in overall metabolic rate (the rate the body burns fuel). This can lead to increased body fat and the associated health risks.

After age 30, we basically have two options. We can become weaker or we can work to maintain our strength. You see if you don't keep your muscles strong with the challenge of weight bearing activity growth hormones are not stimulated that instruct every cell, tissue system and process in your body to stay strong and healthy.

We also may mistakenly think that recreational type activities such as walking, cycling, swimming, tennis, etc are enough to keep us strong. However we now know that these kinds of activities cannot even halt let alone reverse muscle tissue loss.

The solution to this largely hidden and chronic health problem afflicting almost every adult - loss of muscle, is easy, A proper exercise program containing strength training exercise is one that uses resistance - to make muscles work harder than they are accustomed to working, and provides more health benefits than any other exercise or activity. It can involve a wide variety of equipment such barbells, dumbbells, machines and even bodyweight to improve strength, overall fitness, appearance and/or sports performance.

Whether you are 40 or 80 years old you can reclaim your youth by gaining strength and building muscle as easily as a much younger person and can become 100 to 150 % stronger within a few short months of regular training.

This type of exercise is so powerful it will stimulate the production of hormones that slow the aging process, sweeping away old worn out, degenerated cells and tissue. This will allow the rebuilding and rejuvenation of new cells and tissue that is younger, stronger and healthier leaving you in a much better position to fight the challenges of getting older.

With this extra time and vigor you just may want to explore new exciting personal options such as a new career, travel or a new hobby or interest. Rather than winding down focus on cranking it up and make the most of this one time ticket on the merry go round of life.
