Questions About Tennis?
I have some questions about tennis.
1)How long does it take to learn serve, forehand,backhand,slice,volleys,drop shot,lob,smash?
2)At what point in your development do you enter tournaments?
3)Should I wear a proper tennis top,shorts,socks,sweat/wrist band to my first coaching session/lesson?
4)Should I get a wilson BLX Six One Tour, coz I really like that racket?
5)What is better for a player who wants an all-court game 2 hand backhand or 1 hand backhand?
6)How quickly will I improve if I can only have 1 group session a week and 1 (occasionaly 2) hitting session a week?
sorry for everything at the minuite being about tennis but i wnat to get lots of information
4) I really want this racket for 2 reasons I like the features of it and I have read that using a small headed head light racket improves technique and footwork so helps your game if you try hard
Those are all dependant on the player. It looks like you're going nowhere if you can't even find out this for yourself.
You can learn all of these strokes in a matter of seconds. You just won't obtain any match usable strokes. You need to build them up.
First of all, you don't even know which type of backhand you're going to play with. Tournament play is clearly out of the question. Even if you had the basics down, playing only once or twice a week will not cut it, you'll be destroyed and humiliated at tournaments. I've seen it over and over.
The 6.1 isn't going to improve technique or footwork, I don't know who told you that. It requires the superior of both, so maybe you're thinking it'll help you, but chances are, it won't if you don't know what's proper in the first place.
Proper tennis clothing to practice? Even Roger Federer wears a regular shirt to practice.... If you want to, that's fine. Keep in mind that you'll just uphold your appearance as a poser if you do, and that your skill is what makes you look good.
Playing 2 times a week won't do jack squat for you. Unless you have a 4.5+ playing with you, you will not experience any rapid tennis growth. Heck, I've seen people on my tennis team stay the same or even get worse over the course of 2 years, and that's playing 2 hours 5 days a week.
Here's the trick. Do not get ahead of yourself, and leave the equipment and the tournament play and focus on the nitty gritty of holding down consistancy and mental toughness.
