I am too on a budget every year as there are six siblings in my family, we all are married or have significant others, and there is a total of 16 grandchildren. At our Christmas Eve party every year each of us buys gifts for everyone, so I have to be either creative, or bargain hunting.

I would like to add some ideas onto the dolloar gift frames. Personalizing frames is a great way to show someone they are special and give them something unique at the same time. I have done this for several birthdays and holidays, and they were a hit. I don't know if you have access to a arts and crafts store where you live, but we have a Michael's and that is the place to go for small, detailed decorative items. They have many, many bins of small pre-painted wooden pieces for .25 cents each. It would cost a dollar to buy a set for each frame. You can find themes for just about every interest. After painting the wooden photo frame, I glued (regular glue works fine) the wooden painted deco to each corner of the frame. I did a sports frame (baseball, football, basketball, and soccer), flowers, and country and western. You can also buy a bag of wooden letters for a few dollars. On some of the frames, provided I had enough letters, I painted and glued the person's name on the side, top or bottom of the frame as well.

If you want to go cheaper, you could buy the paper art for scrapbooking for less and they are even more detailed and would look great. You could also buy foam colored letters instead of wooden letters.

Grandma1 - you could buy little thimbals, ball of yarn, and other little sewing theme items
Grandma2 - different colored parakeets
Grandpa2 - tennis racket and tennis balls
