tennis elbow?
ive been getting pain in my elbow and wrist from kind of wailing on the ball.. i like to hit it hard but i think my swinging form is a bit off, and my elbow and wrist are getting yanked in ways they arent supposed to be.. is there any kind of brace to help me straighten my form? thanks
Hey Chris... You may actually have given yourself the start of a hairline fracture from one of your hits and if you have then you need to lay off 2-3 days and let it heal. If it seems more like tennis elbow etc.. then consider that you are 'wailing' on the ball and for some people that means they are waiting till the last second and swinging as hard as they can. If you are hitting the ball even just a little bit late on your backhand that can easily give you tennis elbow as well as hurt your wrist. Good solid power tennis is done by footwork (center of mass moving into the ball), hip, torso and shoulder rotation and NOT by freezing your position followed by swinging your arm fast. As far as equipment goes, if you like using your power to hit hard you need a stiff 'control' racket to keep the ball going where you want it too and also a tight string tension helps.... but be forewarned that a good control racket is stiff with tight strings and offers no forgiveness to off hit balls or improper bio-mechanics... A good tennis pro could, in a half hour lesson, could analyze your 'wailing on the ball' and be able to point out why it hurts as well as give you some tips on how to hit even harder if that's your goal.
You might be able to find a brace that helps but it won't correct the errors.

Tennis player looking for suggestions for good tennis wrist brace or splints?
I play quite a bit of tennis and I've been experiencing a bit of pain in my forehand wrist as of late. I'd like to know if anyone can recommend one/more brands of good wrist braces or splints to wear while playing (to alleviate any pain in the wrist area). Also, nothing too bulky. Thanks in advance.
wear an wristband and if that doesn't seem to help enough nike does make a pretty good wrist wrap which you can adjust to how you want it to your wrist.
