I need some tips for Wii Sports, specifically Wii Tennis...?
I recently achieved pro status on Wii sports, tennis. However, playing some of the pros with ratings 1400 and above, I notice they put spin on the ball. Now, I know playing Wii bowling (also a pro) you can put curve on the ball by twisting the Wii remote on delivery.
I tried to apply the same theory, but nothing came of it. Though I can win my games without the spin I thought it might be useful in multiplayer games (particularly against the kids!)
I also have a problem with Aces. I can return them fine, but serving one is a real challenge. I think I get only 2 or three over the course of a best of 3 match.
Any help or advice would be appreciated, I'm falling in love with this game all over again after 12 months of Wii-ing and moving on to other games.
Topspin: Roll your wrist forward so that the Wii Remote buttons face down as you connect with the tennis ball. This shot is tough to return.
Backspin: Roll your wrist back so that the buttons face up.
The key is to think *table* tennis motions rather than traditional tennis. As mentioned in earlier answers, it's all in the wrist, not the arms. It'll take a while to get the hang of it, but when you do, it really deepens the mechanics of the game and you'll wonder why you ever played it without these techniques.
As for the aces, it's really just a matter of timing. Hit the ball when it reaches it's highest point and it should work. It'll come with practise and after a while you'll be serving like that all the time.
As for bowling, I'm no expert, but again the curve is all in the wrist. Twist your wrist as you follow through. If you're right handed, twisting your wrist to the left will cause it to arc to the left. If you twist your wrist to the right, away from your body, it will curve to the right.

How to curve/spin the ball on Wii Sports Resort Table Tennis?
I know that on table tennis wii sports resort you can curve the ball by twisting your wrist, but i can't do it and its making me feel like chucking the wii remote through the TV, so can anyone give me any tips that will actually work? Thanks (:
I'm not sure what to tell you here, as I've found that it's pretty easy to do...
Have you ever put a spin on the ball when playing "actual" ping-pong? You do it the same way with the Wii-remote.
When you swing at the ball, instead of just doing a "straight" swing where the Wii-remote would basically just stay "horizontal" through your swing, you actually twist or move your wrist so that as you are hitting the ball you are also twisting the Wii-remote from horizontal to vertical and beyond... In other words, think of the Wii-remote like one of the hands on a clock. If you are right-handed and are taking a forehand swing, the Wii-remote would start out facing around, say, the 3 or the 4 on a clock face. (basically horizontal) Then, when you swing at the ball you twist the Wii-remote (at the same time you are "hitting") upwards till you end up with the Wii-remote facing somewhere around the 11 or 12 on a clock face. So... you are moving the Wii-remote from a horizontal position to a vertical position at the same time as you are swinging the Wii-remote forward to strike the ball.
I hope that helps you to get it down... if you have anymore questions on it, just ask.
