Tennis Training Does anyone know about a tennis ball on a string used in tennis training?
Hi,
I have a question about a tennis training ball on a string I once saw. I saw a kid playing tennis by himself with a ball that was attached to a long elastic string and every time he hit it it would bounce right back to him. It looked really cool. The whole thing was just sitting on the ground, with long string and a ball. I was wondering if anyone ever saw this or has one at home and could tell me where can I buy it and what is the exact name for it?? Thank you.
I have one of those!! It's a Gamma Tennis Trainer. It has a base filled with sand so the ball will come back to you. The rubber string and the ball are attached to the base. It is a great way for me to practice by myself, and it is also fun for my friends who don't play tennis. When you first use it, don't get frustrated because it takes a few tries to get the hang of it. Check it out:

With John Officer, US Naval Academy Head Tennis CoachTennis as a sport has attracted players who have focused solely on that pursuit without developing all around athletic skills. The innate athletic ability of many of our players is questionable due to the specific focus on tennis. There are various athletic moves on a tennis court which can be taught. The current movement training involves a series of exercises designed to improve explosiveness, agility, balance, and endurance. The exercises are done separately from hitting a tennis ball. This tape will show all the athletic moves for each individual stroke on the tennis court. The key for athletic movement is to understand how to fuse the patterns with the strokes rather than simply isolating training. The goal is to move like a top flight athlete.46 minutes. 2004.

How can players set themselves up to hit perfect returns like the pros? Let Jack Groppel, Lynne Rolley, Stan Smith, and Nick Saviano show you in Movement Training for Tennis.Developed through the expertise of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Sport Science Committee, this video presents a progression of drills to help players at any level add explosive movement to their game. World-renowned tennis coach Dr. Jack Groppel enlists the aid of USTA tennis experts to show coaches, instructors, and players how reaction time and movement time result in explosive speed. This concept involves the player’s seeing the ball off the opponent’s racket (reaction time), adding an immediate "split-step" toward the ball (movement time), and completing the execution of the shot with a rapid release of energy (explosive movement). In Part I of this video, players start off with warm-up drills to prevent injury. Next, there’s a progression of sport-specific drills designed to help players improve shot anticipation, initial take-off, footwork, body position, and recovery time after hitting the shot. Players will progress from short speed drills to more complex drills that incorporate lateral and horizontal movements. In Part II, the unique sliding techniques required to play effectively on clay is demonstrated. Players will learn how to step into the slide before executing the stroke, how to recover after the shot, and how to maintain balance throughout.Movement Training for Tennis is a valuable tool in helping players use movement to stay on top of their opponents’ shots during match play and get the winning edge.About the AuthorThe United States Tennis Association (USTA) is the governing body for tennis in the United States. What are the advantages and disadvantages in training yourself to be ambidextrous in tennis?
Just in the competition, not when you're training cause it'll obviously take work.
well if you've mastered both sides-right and left equally, i guess thers no disadvantages because both are as strong as eachother. i suppose if you injured your right wrist(assuming you hav a one handed backhand) then u could just switch straight 2ur left handed play
well individual training is available at khaitan school as i was told by some people, you can try there. How old are you?? Even i have played at NOIDA the stadium and the coaching there sucks. I can safely say that u were not satisfied with the quality of coaching. There is a sec 15a club also but i dont know if they allow outsiders for tennis training.
