Need a new tennis racket?

At the moment I own a Wilson ncode n5 which I was given and before that a Prince force three. I find the Wilson doesn't offer me nearly as much control as the Prince did, but it was much better for serving with.

Basically, I would say that I am in the middle between a beginner and a intermediate player. I am looking for a racket that is forgiving enough to let me be consistent in my ground strokes, but allow me enough control so I can (try) and place my shots more. I can generate quite a lot of power with my forehand, but I need a little more time to set up my backhand and it usually lacks power. I know this is more of a technique issue, but the more info the better I guess!
I'd like to note that I have been playing tennis for a number of years, and would say I'm a low level club player. I just don't think my current racket is good for my level/game and would like some tips on what to look for etc.

First, I would first get to know your limitations. Get to know what type of player you are. You may not even get into the sport so don't spend money on a expensive racket that you may not even use.
Also don't spend some time with your current rackets you may start to even like the Wilson.
If your having trouble with control on the Wilson get some grip on it I guarantee this will offer more control.

Thanks :)

Fast and Furious Tennis: Advanced Movement Techniques (DVD)

$29.99

With Chris Russell,University of Washington Associate Head Men's Tennis CoachCoach Russell presents drills for developing the skills of explosive court movements and angle coverage to improve position on the ball. His main focus is the 'big hop', a move that expands explosiveness and court coverage. The 'big hop' is a great tool when returning the second serve. It also takes time away from the server and reduces the chance of error. This technique is also presented as a valuable strategy in doubles play. On-court players demonstrate resetting offensive position on the volley. Russell also covers the specialized forehand, which allows the player time to get positioned on top of the ball. Other movement techniques covered include the 'dipper', the 'waddle', the 'sharpie' and chasing the ball. Russell also analyzes the curve of the ball on volley shots. The proper curve makes it very difficult for opponents to hit effective return shots. This is an excellent training tool for tennis players serious about taking it to the next level! 46 minutes. 2007.

Beginning Tennis Tips & Techniques : Clock Method for the Tennis Forehand Ground Stroke

How to Preform A Forehand Blow in Tennis-Four Easy Steps

The forehand maneuver is amply popular in the game of Tennis. This stroke is on average used to swat the ball diagonally over the net. The forehand slice refers to smacking the ball when your forearm is facing the net. When the ball is on the side of your body grasping the racket (right side if you are right handed, left side if you are left handed) you will be using the forehand. To preform a flawless forehand maneuver, follow these steps:

Step 1: Get prepared and get in position. If you know the ball is going to your good side, adjust to hit a forehand. First, side step (or shuffle) over to the ball. At this point your body should be facing the net, but bear in mind to keep your eyes on the ball.

Step 2: Open up your stance. This is the part where you need to rotate yourself sideways. To do this, turn your backfoot so it is parallel with the baseline and the net. At the same time, take a small step forward with your other foot (this foot will be your left if you are right handed, or your right foot if you are left handed). Bend your knees and prepare for the ball to enter into your hitting range.

Step 3: Make contact with the ball. This step should happen less than a couple seconds after the second step. Your stroke of the racket should follow your step forward, causing the entire process to be a single, fluent motion.  Your racket should follow an upside down arc pattern. The stroke should start up high about shoulder height, swing down to below the waist, and then be traveling upwards again when it makes contact with the ball. Topspin is your goal when playing Tennis.

Step 4: Follow through. After the contact is made, make sure you follow through with a complete slice. Do not merely make contact with the ball and then freeze. Rather, keep your arm moving until the stroke is completed, and then prepare yourself for the ball to be hit back. Great job, you completed a forehand stroke!
