tension affects the return of the ball.
my niece is A lighter hitter then i, at present hers is set 8 lbs over the limit which gives her more velocity on her return shots , mine like alotta other stronger vollers use 5 lbs less than recommended.
you can adjust the power stroke of your volley return or you can adjust the tension of the strings. it hasnt affected or warped her racket yet. she does seem to have had to relplace her strings every 2 years and mine still has the same ones after 6 years.
