What does playero mean?
It is a Spanish noun. Dictionaries say it is "pertaining to the beach", but my Spanish learning software has a picture of a canvas shoe, and the translation is "beach bum" which in English is just a person who hangs out on the beach! Someone must have been drunk when they wrote that portion of the program. What word would you commonly use to say "tennis shoe" or just plain "shoe"?
tennis shoes = zapatillas, zapatos deportivos or, in Mexico, tenis.
shoes = zapatos
maybe in some countries, they have a special name for the kind of shoes you wear at a beach. "playeros" can be one of those names (it sounds as a short of "zapatos playeros").
Also "zapatos de playa".
