Tennis Socks Women
How do you fit steel toe boots?
Do you need to wear thick socks to make the fit better (currently wearing regular Hanes socks)?
Do you need to buy one size larger than your normal size with a steel toe boot (I wear a woman's 7.5, do I need to buy an 8)?
Is it common for toes to touch the steel toe and gradually become numb?
I bought some steel toe shoes (tennis shoe style steel toe shoes) yesterday. Everywhere the shoe fits snug, not tight, except for where my little toe and the one next to it touch the steel toe. Where these two toes touch the steel toe they eventually get a little numb. Is this normal? I don't normally wear a wide shoe, does this mean I need to get a wider shoe b/c of the steel toe and my toes touching too much?
Shoes are Red Wings Worx brand.

Take them back and get measured for a proper fit. If you continue to ware the ones you have you could do serious damage to your feet.

Why do some Athletes go without socks in sports?
I noticed that in some women's sports the Athletes go with out socks. In softball one the players on the team said she prefers to wear her cleats with no socks because it helps her concentrate on pitching and she does that in both games and practice and said socks are to uncomfortable in cleats during games. I saw the same thing in basketball and tennis as mainly the women's players go without socks in their shoes when playing and in practice. Most of them just said they can't stand wearing socks when playing sports as one said makes them feel to much weight on their feet. Does it it really give an advanage?
I always thought they wore socks that barely cover the feet and were hidden by the shoe, I think some do. What's interesting is a few years ago everyone used to tape their ankles when participating, whenever a trainer had to come out to attend to a tennis player they would have to cut the tape off and then re-apply. I think tennis shoes now are softer and more absorbent inside, terry cloth lining I suppose. Times change, no more socks and taping. I don't know about an advantage, but if you feel more comfortable without socks, then it's a psychological edge.
