Tennis serve help?

how do i get to throw my ball up exactly how i want it so that its straight. do i trow it or toss it or let it go up from my fingers or the middle of my hand?? it gets crooked when i throw it up

The toss is one of the most important parts of the serve. When I teach people to toss(and yes one must be taught how to toss a ball lol) this is that I tell them.

Place the ball on the tips of your fingers and not in the palm of your hand. If you "throw" the ball by putting it in the palm of your hand it will roll off of your fingers and have spin and probably go off to the side or out in front of you.

Now hold your arm out straight. To toss the ball bring your arm down and then up, like you are trying to reach out and touch the spot that you want the ball to be when you strike it. At the top simply release the ball. It will continue up along the line that you tossed at the speed your arm was going when you let go. The only thing that can change the line now is the wind.

Try to remember that you arent throwing the ball in the air or tossing it. You just want to "release" it along the line you are going for.

Good serve in tennis?

Im ok at tennis but my serve isint good at all! How can I improve? (It never goes in the service box, or it does not make it over the net. Thanks for any tips on tossing the ball, my grip, footing, how hard i hit. thanks

There's a lot of components of a serve that can really make it great. Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to explain exactly how to position yourself to get the most out of your serve, or how to toss it.
I like to use Tennis.com when I'm looking for tips.
Try this: http://tennis.com/yourgame/instructionarticles/serve/index.aspx
Hope i could help!
