tennis racquet string tension?
if i played tennis but stopped for about a year and a half, but now am playing again:would the string tension 53-63 be to much for me?
It depends on the size of the racket head... a 90-95 square inch racket should have a lower tension than a 100 square inch and a 110 square inch head should have the highest tension.
If you have very long swooping high speed strokes, you should string your racket about as tight as the frame allows.
If you have short, compact, lower speed strokes you should string for lower tension to give a bit more power.

How To Test The Tension on a Tennis Racket
I have been taking tennis lessons for a year & I need my racquet restrung - what tension should I use?
I'm both a nationally certified Tennis Instructor as well as a Mechanical Engineer. So, I feel particularly qualified to answer this question.
Since there are so many different racquets and so many different strings, each with its own varying characteristics, the only real answer is to experiment and see.
If a lower tension doesn't improve your playing experience, try a higher tension the next time and see.
