Tennis Racquet Head Speed
Question about tennis...............?
a) How can you improve racquet head speed on forehand?
b) Do weights on the end of your racquet help the racquet speed?
c) What is the disadvantage of having heavier racquet head?
Thanks for the answers
a) Don't swing the racket just with your arm. Swing by loading up your muscles from your legs to your core to your arm.
b) If you add lead tape at the 12 o clock position of your racket, your racket will be more head heavy. With that being said, your power will increase but control is harder to manage. Your racket speed will increase yet your preparation will be slower until you get used to the weight.
c) The disadvantage is your manuveurability with your strokes and volleys. You would have to get your racket earlier than usual which can be a benefit if you're looking to improve in that field. Also if the frame is heavier, you will have more power and plowthrough. All in all, control will be lost but power will be gained.

what type of tennis racquet should i get?
Right now I'm using Head. It's pretty good but doesn't have a lot of control. Which racquet brands are good for control and speed/agression?

Dan, if you want to compare power between Prince racquets as well as other racquets, use this site:
It gives power ratings in an objective way, using the USRSA index.
Power ratings differ based on size of the head, stiffness of the racquet, weight of the racquet & tightness of the strings.
Prince uses the 600 to 1600 system to compare within the Prince family. A 1000 Prince rating is equivalent to about 2,300 -2,400 USRSA. You can use the site to compare any Prince racquet to any Babolat.
The Pure Drive has a rating of 2,300+ which is similar to the O3 Speedport Red, for example.
Comparing racquets based on just USRSA is not a perfect basis for comparison, however. The two racquets I named above are very different in terms of feel and weight and would not be considered "interchangeable."
Have a look at the site to compare racquets with similar power ratings as well as flex, balance, swingweight or price.
Who actually cares what Federer says? The man does his talking with a raquet. Nadal does his talking with a tennis racquet. Put these two in their prime, on any court and let the tennis “speak”. As an aside I wonder if ol' Rog would have been so opiniated about the state of Nadal's play in mid 2008 up til the French? The tide will turn for Nadal.
Well, you should revise you opening question of "Best string for feel?" cuz the answer to that would be natural gut, but that's even more impractical than your lightnings. My advice is to hybrid your strings. Big banger… no idea there cuz i never used it but the kevlar from prince works our really well. and the pink and yellowish color work really well together. Just make sure to put the kevlar on the mains and the lightnings on the crosses. If you dont like the feel i advise you just pick one softer string (ie. polyester) on the crosses and a stiffer, more durarable sting on the mains (ie. kevlar).
