Tennis Rackets Prince Spectrum
Is it okay to use my dad's old tennis racket?
I'm a beginner in the sport and my dad just gave me his old racket. It's a White Prince Spectrum Comp 90. It was last used around 1990. Since then it's been boxed up a few times and it's recently been sitting in the garage.
Right now the strings are very hard. Should I re-string it? Or are the strings I'm using now fine? How much would it cost to get it restrung? And how long does it take? Should I buy a new racket altogether?
Thanks and sorry for all the questions.
Just put new strings in it and see how that works for you. It will probably cost between $15-25. Some places offer next-day service, but some may take a week to get it done. All depends on where you take it.
On that note, don't take it into a big-name sporting goods store that offers stringing services. Instead, you want to take it to a local club or pro shop, so that you know it's being handled by people who know what they're doing.
It is a good stick, actually. It will be pretty demanding for you at first, but you should be able to adjust to it. You might want to string it a below mid-tension (range is 50 to 65 lbs, so mid would be 58-ish). So maybe go with closer to 55 or 56 lbs. That will help give you a little extra power boost, which you may end up needing with this frame.
So yeah, don't bother getting a whole new frame. To get a new frame of the same quality of that one, you'd have to spend $150-200. So it's worth it to restring it.

not for a baseline rather for a all court player like ATP pros. It isn't really a good racket despite the really cheap price. Graphite is graphite it doesn't make too much difference. It has topspin because of the difference in the main and the cross strings which causes more spin.
what you are looking for is a more head heavy racket head and maybe even a bigger head
a good place to learn what to buy is
BE Warned quite expensive
there should be a halo reach version! it'll fit
