Tennis Racket
What is the best type of tennis racket for a beginner?
I don't want a tennis racket that is expensive because I am still a beginner but I do want one that is good quality. I went to Wal-Mart(this was only because I wanted a cheap one--I'm not yet sure if I will want to continue) and had no clue to which type is considered good quality. What are certain things you look for in a good racket? Please help me out!
Try a few out in the store lol... I did. and decide which feels right. I had the same problem when I started and I too when to Wal Mart lol but like I said just try them out and pick the one that feels right
It shouldn't be heavy it has to light to where you can swing it and it won't your shoulder or what not also it has to hit good too lol (of course).
Also there different handles for me I like the ones with cushion. Also get the one where the Handel and racket part are a one piece because once I had one that wasn't and it broke!
But just find one that's for you and only you lol because I once tried my brothers racket (which is smaller and doesn't have cushion - because I forgot mine) and I couldn't play right at all... it was hard!!!
I would buy Wilson (one with a larger head) ...thats what I have and LOVE!!!

how do I know when is time to change the strings on my tennis racket?
I bought a tennis racket in February of this year. I am a beginner (2.5) but I have been playing about 25 hours weekly ever since. I have noticed I have to fix the strings on my rackets frequently, they seem loose. Is this an indication that I need new strings?
No, this is not a reason to get new strings. Unless you have an extremely tight string job, or hit perfectly flat shots, your strings will move. Just slide them back into place. Of course, if you bought a racket pre-strung, it's possible that they are overly loose--if they slide back and forth too easily, you might want to consider a new string job for that reason. (A pro or knowledgeable racket stringer should be able to tell.)
Another reason to restring is when your strings are ready to break. You can determine this by sliding the center strings to the side and looking to see if there are notches in the strings. Strings get notches from sliding back and forth during play, especially if you hit with topspin, and eventually the friction causes the strings to break.
Otherwise, you can easily use the same strings for a year or more. As you play more, it is a good idea to have at least two rackets strung in the same way. Not only does this give you a spare, but if you are concerned that your strings are not responding, you can compare the one you use most with the spare--my guess is you won't be able to tell any difference.
