How to Make a Tennis Ball Cannon

Help designing a PVC cannon?

Hi! I need to make a pneumatic tennis ball cannon out of PVC that is capable of being semi/full auto if possible for my tech. drawing class. I need help! is it even possible for it to be semi or full auto? How can I design it?

A venturi arrangement as previous described will require much larger pipe than the usual barrel sized for the tennis balls. It just won't work here.

I am supposing that the tennis balls will fit snugly within the pipe. (I have shot apples and potatoes which are automatically cut to fit.)
Using a piping tee fitting consider a right angle tube feed into the barrel chamber sized for 2-3 balls plus one in the "chamber". The magazine will have a few inches of space above the top ball and there will be a 1/2" tube to feed activating pressure into the top to force the balls out. Insert a one-size reducing bushing to be a restrictor just before the barrel chamber and after the tube connection so that there will be higher pressure in the magazine than in the chamber. Otherwise the balls will not come out. Do not cement the restrictor, but pin it so that it can be changed. Use a threaded pipe cap closure for the magazine. With some adjustments a potential problem of hang-ups in the barrel might be corrected. These would involve experimentation's with barrel lengths and pressures and inserts and with the duration of main valve activation. The full automatic mode would probably be the first to work successfully.
In any case the system will be an air hog and a very large capacity reservoir will be needed. It will be disporoprtionately larger than what would be required for a single shot, especially for the semi-automatic mode.
