Is My 100 Meter Dash Time Good?
I've just turned 14 and a friend and I went to our local track. It was about 25 Celsius (77 F) and we both did the 100 meter sprint. I've never had any training and there was no starting blocks.
However I was dressed in tennis shoes, Adidas Climacool shirt and knee length cargo shorts.(not the best for running)
I got a time of 14.00.
Is this good?
I changed into Football (soccer) shorts and got 12.80
Let me start by saying you shouldn't listen to the first response saying that your time is horrible.
You were running based on raw ability. You hadn't trained, and there were no starting blocks. I doubt you even stretched the best you possibly could of and gotten in a sufficient warm up. I'm not even going to mention how cargo shorts were not made for running (Oh wait, I just did).
Given separate conditions, like basic speed training, some nice Nike shorts, and starting blocks, I think you would have been down in the low 13s to the upper 12s. This isn't going to win you any medals, but it's still pretty fast.

whats a good pair of tennis shoes for shin splints?
I started playing tennis two weeks ago. So we had to do a little team running and i have devolped shin splints!! awsome. Also the shoes i have now have been giving out. I need a good pair of new tennis shoes. my first game is on wednesday. What do you guys think? any good suggestions? my uniform is purple shirt black shorts btw.
And my feet seem pretty average. medium arch medium width size 10.
umm if you hav shin splits you shouldnt be running or playing tennis,
i played basketball while i had shin splits and it just aggravated it more.
so i would say not to play for at least a month.
