Help finding women's cycling glasses?
I'm looking to get some cycling glasses. I plan to go to a cycling shop today to have a look, but there's only one big one around here that sells them (and it's a pretty pricey shop).
I'm not looking for cheap one's. But I can't spend lots on them.
My biggest problem is my size. Are all cycling glasses one size, with smaller ones for women? Because I'm a petite woman and when shopping for normal sunglasses,some women's ones are big. I don't want kids one's either as they don't have interchangeable lenses. I don't really want to get them online either as I'd prefer to try them on to see if they fit.
Anyone any ideas?
many "cycling glasses" are expensive, but that's largely the trendy ones. There is nothing specific about cycling that dictates you can/should use "cycling glasses". I use the same glasses canoeing, kayaking and biking (an sometimes driving or mowing the lawn).
Many stores, other than bike stores, have sunglasses suitable for cycling. In general look for glasses that cover the eye and curve around to the side a bit (sometimes called "bug eye" lenses). Polycarbonate is good material for lenses since it's pretty scratch resistant. Make sure the lens are UV opaque (stop UV light). Look for frames that have flat earpieces (rather than those that hook over the ears), are rubber covered around the tips and press firmly against the sides of your head (not too firm, but not loose fitting) . They will hold to your head better. Lens color isn't critical, but I'd suggest a medium density for all round use. Some have exchangeable lens, but that generally puts the price up. You do need to try them, so don't buy on-line unless you already know the brand/model.
