Strung Racquet One Can I change the bumper on top of my racquet?
I bought a used NSix-One 90 with no paint chips but a lot of scratches on the bumper (the black thing on the top). is there any way to change this?
i see you can purchase grommets online. I don't string my own racquets, so if I want to change it, I have to ask a stringer to change the grommets, correct?
also, would i need to have it restrung to do so?
Yes to both. Since you do not string you could ask your stringer to replace the bumper and grommets for you. Grommets should be replaced as needed or every 3 or 4 string jobs if you are stringing with gut just to preserve the gut and not have it cut into by the frame hole where some grommets may have tore.
Yes you would have to have the strings cut out to replace the bumper and hence need to restring.
You could actually cut out your own strings starting from the middle and going clock wise or alternating from top to bottom left to right to ease the tension loss on the frame. And then pull out the grommet strips and remove the bumper and just replace them yourself and take it in to the stringer like that if you wish but you may need an awl or pipe cleaner to assist in getting the grommets through certain racquet holes, or just take it in strung with a new set of bumper & grommets and have them do it.

advice from any stringers out there...?
i use a drop weight machine and always use one piece stringing on my racquet. however, every time i hit for an hour or two with a fresh strung racquet the tension drops dramatically and is easily noticeable. is there anything i might be doing wrong?
You should probably prestretch the string. What we used to do with gut like 20 years ago was take a length and find a pole to wrap it around and yank. Pull the crap out of it for like 5 minutes moving along the length. New constant pull electric machines have done away with the need to do that. Thank God. But drop weights really haven't you would need to drop weight on it a couple of times before clamping and tying off. Obviously the more you do it the more accurate and less tension loss there'll be.
