Striped Tennis Headbands
Is this what they wore in the 80's? (80's day at school this week)?

I went to good will and bought a big button down pink and white striped shirt and a light colored denim jacket with pearl buttons. I am planning on wearing some old acid wash jeans my mom has and tennis shoes. I already have curly hair and its huge if I brush it out. Should I put it in a side pony tail or leave it down or what? I am using a headband because if I don't it will take over my face haha. Its that big. Any tips or is this even 80's? Preferably someone who was there could give me advice. Thanks in advance!

-blue eyeliner
-leg warmers
-layered socks (two different colors to match outfit)
-lots of jelly bracelets
-big earrings, colored ones that match outfit
-jelly shoes

I'd leave your hair down and tease the heck out of it. lol Use lots of hair spray to hold in place. Acid wash jeans are perfect. You can try only80s.com It may help you. Good luck to you and have fun with it. I know I did back in the best decade ever. hehe

Black And White Is Right

A black and white wedding is always a classy choice.  Here are some ideas to make your black and white wedding stand out from the crowd.

A black and white wedding is simple and uncluttered.  With that in mind, the wedding party attire should be fairly easy to choose.  The bride's gown shouldn't be too frilly or overdone or it detracts from the simplicity of the theme.  The bridesmaids should all be dressed in black, although an accent color such as gold or silver is lovely if you like.  One wedding I saw had the bridesmaids carry white lacy umbrellas instead of flowers which was an elegant touch.  The groomsmen can wear black or white tuxedoes depending on the level of formality you are trying to achieve.  Generally speaking, white tuxedoes are considered more formal than black.

The danger with a black and white color scheme is becoming unbalanced and favoring one color over the other.  If you have too much white than you risk looking bland and boring; too much black and your decorations will start to resemble a funeral.  Pew markers can be large white and black bows, alternating as you go down the aisles.  Simple white tablecloths with black dishes or black tablecloths with white dishes are classy and straightforward to do.  Consider adding interest with black and white patterned napkins or table runners.  White roses in black vases would be perfect centerpieces.  Or perhaps you would prefer wrought iron candelabra with white candles.  Clear vases with black stones and white candles or white stones and black candles is another easy way to promote your color scheme.  I also saw an idea where one bride used clear vases with a few ostrich feathers in each one.  Talk about unique!

Because black and white are such traditional colors for a wedding, finding wedding favors should be easy to do.  Consider unusual choices such as black licorice in a white box or black and white striped lollipops.  Or perhaps you could choose a hobby or interest you and your fiancé have in common and use that as the inspiration for the favors.  For example if you both enjoy tennis you could give black or white embroidered terrycloth headbands or towels.

Don't feel as though you are confined to simply black and white if you like this theme.  You could also try black and champagne, black and silver, white and gold, or any other classy combination you choose.  The key is to pick something you love and keep it simple.
