I have a spanish version of excel, what is the formula to count the number of occurrences of a text string?
In English EXCEL, it is: =SUM(if(H2:H217="my string",1,0)). The Spanish version likes SUMA, but not "IF". In Spanish IF is SI, but this is reserved for a different function! Help!
In Spanish, COUNT is not recognised. There is CONTAR, but that looks like a different function!
Found the answer as: =CONTAR.SI(H2:H217,"my string")

great question. the source website was made for french translation. i have copied it into excel and created an index() and Match() formula that can lookup the common formulas in any language.

To be fair I don't think you do have a 'second string' both your teams are experienced world class players.. an example Fabianski = Cudicini.. your so called second team aren't players who of some, could still be playing in the youth team. they are seasoned players.
