if i leave natural gut string on my racquet and store it at home, would it lose its tension? and how long?
thanks for answering
its gonns depend on how u store it...and how tight its strung...
if its in an airtight container...no moisture...probs its gonna last longer...
if its in the open...with open contact to moisture in the air...strings are gonna lose the original tension rate over time...how long theres no formula to calculate accurately...
i would have to say probably in 3-4months...it may hold up...then the tension just gets softer..but i cant say for sure...
but if u do string it with natural gut...use it..dont keep it...its a real waste mate...

Over time, dirt and oil from your hands build up on your strings, causing them to tarnish. This dirt on your strings will cause them to begin to sound dull and lifeless. Washing your hands before playing and wiping the strings afterward will extend the life of your strings. Other factors (like the natural stretching of the string over time) will require you to change your strings regularly.
The playable “life” of your guitar strings depends on a number of things. The sweat from your hands will decrease the life of your strings. The environment also affects string life. Smokey nightclubs, room humidity, and frequency of playing all diminish the life of the guitar string. This is true for both steel, nickel and nylon strings.
From my experience of playing guitar for over 30 years, I can share the following “warning signs” of string failure:
• The guitar becomes difficult to tune.
• The overall tone of the guitar sounds dull.
• The strings begin to discolor (not as shiny as when they were new!!).

The frequency would be at 710 Hz depending on the exact position of the depressed fret. I can give you the equation but then I would be doing your homework for you!
Putting gut with anything is generally good.
I did try a tri-blend using natural gut in the center mains and crosses with polyester in the outer mains and crosses.
Stringing the racket using this combination of tri-blend gives one the comfort of a livelier string (natural gut or multifillament) with more control. It is a different/better feel than a traditional two piece hybrid. For me I got more of what I wanted using the combination of gut and poly in a 3 piece hybrid compared to a two piece hybrid. The gut is in the center where I want it, while the pattern and poly create a unique feel/sweetspot that results in better playability.
It is difficult to explain. I think it is worth a try though.
Keep in mind that I used one tension throughout the string job which I feel allows the string and the pattern to dictate the feel. One could increase or decrease the tension depending on your personal preference.
