Radical Cheerleading $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Radical cheerleading is a form of cheerleading that originated in Florida, but has now spread across the United States as well as Canada, Europe and beyond. The idea is to ironically reappropriate the aesthetics of cheerleading, for example by changing the chants to promote feminism and leftwing causes. Many radical cheerleaders (some of whom are male, transgender or nongender identifie) are in appearance far from the stereotypical image of a cheerleader. Radical cheerleaders often perform at demonstrations. They also often perform at feminist and other radical festivals and events. Radical cheerleading is used at demonstrations to promote a radical message in a mediafriendly, peoplefriendly way. It is also used to support the actions of other activists who put themselves at physical risk and to denounce infiltrators and opponents. Radical Substitution $79.66 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In organic chemistry, a radical substitution reaction is a substitution reaction involving free radicals as a reactive intermediate. The reaction always involves at least two steps, and possibly a third. In the first step called initiation (2,3) a free radical is created by homolysis. Homolysis can be brought about by heat or light but also by radical initiators such as organic peroxides or azo compounds. Light is used to create two free radicals from one diatomic species. The final step is called termination (6,7) in which the radical recombines with another radical species. If the reaction is not terminated, but instead the radical group(s) go on to react further, the steps where new radicals are formed and then react is collectively known as propagation (4,5) because a new radical is created available for secondary reactions. Radical Interpretation $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Radical interpretation is interpretation of a speaker, including attributing beliefs and desires to them and meanings to their words, from scratchthat is, without relying on translators, dictionaries, or specific prior knowledge of their mental states. The term was introduced by American philosopher Donald Davidson (1973) and is meant to suggest important similarity to W. V. O. Quines term radical translation, which occurs in his work on the indeterminacy of translation. Radical translation is translation of a speakers language, without prior knowledge, by observing the speakers use of the language in context. Even more so than radical translation did for Quine, radical interpretation plays an important role in Davidsons work, but the exact nature of this role is up for debate. Some see Davidson as using radical interpretation directly in his arguments against conceptual relativism and the possibility of massive errorof most of our beliefs being false. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 90 Publication Date: 2010/08/14 Language: English Dimensions: 6.00 x 9.02 x 0.22 inches |
