proper tennis racquet grips
How to perfect my tennis serve?
Hi, I'm a fifteen year old guy (just turned 15) and I play on the junior satellite and open circuit. I'm a little above average height wise, at about 5' 11.5" and my serve really holds me back.
I'm a lefty and I serve with a proper continental grip, and a normal take back with the racquet right before I toss the ball. I would say my 1st serve % is around 40. On the second serve, I have fear of double-faulting and I push the ball on the court with a weak slice and I double fault usually 5-6 times a set. It's frustrating, because when I DO get my first serve in, most of the time my opponent either doesn't return it, or hit a weak shot which allows me to swing volley for a winner. Any advice? Thank you!
Start off slow with whatever it takes to get the ball in, whether it's a 6 mph or 60 mph serve. You just have to relax and slowly build up, not going for too much, and get into a rhythm. Most of the time, less is more because the looser your muscles get, the better. Btw, the racket should come back at the same time as you start your toss.
