As I was walking through the pro shop at the Cincinnati tourney this weekend, I was struck by how many new types of rackets there are and how old mine is. I still use a Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 si 95 sq in. It's served me extremely well and won me a lot of matches.
The salesperson there mentioned a "stretch" head that was still a standard head size (not oversized) but that was beneficial to shorter players when serving (at 5'8" this characterizes me). The match was starting back up and I had to leave so I didn't ask him to expand.
Can someone knowledgable tell me the difference between a standard and stretch racket? I'm doing internet research but I'm curious as to personal experiences too.
I'm a solid 3.5 these days (in my older years. yikes!). I've used the same racket as you see for almost 20 years but may need to embrace new technology.

Hey Big Fan, A friend of mine in Hawaii is the #1 O55 mens' champion and he uses stretch frames and likes them. He is good but about your height. A stretch can be anything from 27.25 to 29 inches in length.
The downside of stretches is that they may through off your strokes since they are longer. They change the way that your serve, forehand and backhand will respond when you hit the shot. I don't think that 27 1/2 which is what the Wilson stretch Hammer is should be that different so I would give it a try. You will notice a little more umf to your serves just because of the added length and increased leverage.

The review explains the intention of the designers/inventors better. But don't let it mould your opinion. The test team is made up of 4.5 to 5.5 players. They will not like this frame as much as say a 3.0 - 4.5 would since their skill level is more geared to traditional equipment and fast full swings. You should be able to pull it off without a hitch.
