Having Two Different Tennis Rackets ?
Hi im currently a high school player and i am using a Head Microgel Ext ream (midplus), I recently bought another one online but it turns out that i had order the wrong one. They sent me a Microgel Ext ream Pro.. My only concern is that is it a good idea to have two different rackets with you during a match, just oncase one breaks.
It's important to have more than 1 racquet available to you during competition since you will be out of commission and have to default if you break a string and have no additional frames with which you can continue play. However it is probably important for you to have the exact same frame that is strung at the exact same tension so that you can grab a replacement frame should you break a string in you primary frame.
The pros walk onto the court with probably between 6 and 10 different racquets, depending on how frequently they break strings. They keep additional racquets with different tensions (some tighter, if they need to have more control during a match, for example) so that they have some recourse if they are not playing as well as they would like.
For most of us amateurs, this would be overkill. Unless you're a 5.0 plus player you probably don't need more than 2-3 racquets in your possession when you walk on the court. For many years I insisted on having 2 identical racquets. Why? For no other reason than it annoyed me to have to quit playing upon breaking a string after 10 minutes of hitting. If you are playing competitively below the 5.0 level you could probably get by with 3 racquets.

Tennis Racquets?
I am trying to by a new racquet which better suits my style of play. (I am a 4.5 level player - aggressive baseliner with long and fast strokes). I have narrowed it down to two racquets, the Fischer M Speed Pro Number One and the Yonex RDX-500 Midplus. For those who have used either of these racquets, what do you think of them? Please describe how these racquets play in detail! Thanks in advance!
Thanks for all the answers so far! I have been looking around and I am also willing to consider buying the Prince Original Graphite (mid), the Wilson nSix-One Tour 90, or the Wilson nSix-One 95. I have played with both the n-tour and the graphite. They are both great racquets but I don't know which one to go with. Feel free to comment on any of these new racquets and thanks again for all the answers!
Sorry, but I forgot to add that I am looking at Tecnifibre racquets. I have never played with one so any comments on them would be appreciated! Thanks again!
The previous demo suggestion is excellent. No substitute for playtesting yourself.
That said, I am a 4.5 level player who has hit with both of the racquets you are considering...I think. I hit with the 105 M-Speed. It comes in two head sizes and I have not hit with the smaller head size.
Both racquets are fine players racquets. The Fischer has a bit more power to it in the 105 and has a much more muted feel. Both are very good at generating spin off the ground, but I felt the Fischer may have a slight edge in kicking the serve. Both racquets are fine at net, though I found the Yonex to be slightly more manuveurable, though the top of the hoop was not as lively as I had hoped. Overall in terms of overall playability, both are excellent. I wanted very badly to keep the Fischer and make it mine, but IMO it does have one FATAL FLAW. The grip on the Fischer was EXTREMELY uncomfortable for me. I could not get used to the squarish shape. The more rounded Yonex felt much better. This is another reason to demo. The grip shape is irrelavant to some, but because I constantly change grips I could not get used to the new location of the bevels. It felt awkward and uncomfortable to me, while others do not even notice.
Good luck in choosing. Both racquets are excellent in their own right.
