Prince Tennis Stringer
Racquet trouble... time for new ones...?
So, the stringer broke my last back-up frame a few weeks ago, and so I am looking to change racquets soon. I used to work in a tennis shop and knew all the racquets then, but haven't really kept up with this year's models. I am a very aggressive baseliner and a big serve. I am working on coming to net more and getting a little more consistency. I also have very long strokes.
I currently am using the old model Babolat Pure Drive Team Standard (pre-Cortex)... weighted to a little above 12.2 oz... I prefer the heavier racquet, more head light, and with a solid feel.
I was thinking maybe the new Pure Drive, Prince O3 Tour, Prince O3 Tour Hybrid, Yonex RDS 001, and a few others... any thoughts on any of these?
I recently demoed the Pure Drive and the O3 Tour.
Since I also prefer heavier rackets, i found the Pure Drive to be somewhat shaky and I never felt confident with it. I also found a little too much spring with the Pure Drive.
With the o3 Tour, however, things were much different. It's more than an ounce heavier, and 8 points headlight -- it shows. The racket is amazing for serves, pretty quick up at net, and feels very solid at the baseline. One other thing I like about the o3 Tour is the amount of spin i get out of it on a consistent basis.
All that said, I'd suggest going to tennis-warehouse.com and getting those 4 rackets for a week-long demo (It only costs $11, and considering the cost of rackets, I think it's completely worth it). After that, decide.
