Orange Ping Pong

Worn out ping pong paddle?

Whenever I play ping pong at my friends house, I usually use a worn out paddle. The paddle no longer has the black rubber thing on it, just a rough orange surface. I usually play better on that worn out paddle than on a regular paddle. Do all ping pong paddles have that rough orange surface under the black, smooth rubber surface??

I need to know this because I might buy a ping pong table and I want to use the "orange" part of the paddle. I know this is weird but I'm just too damn good with that rough surface!
