Microgel Extreme Tennis
Need help with tension on tennis strings.....?
Well im looking to buy a microgel extreme racquet from tennis warehouse but i dnt no what tension to put in. Im really confused atm. Is it the lower the weight (on here it is in pounds) the tighter the strings or looser strings. So in other words is 57pounds tighter or looser than 60 pounds. Thx in advance.
57 pounds is looser

Essai HEAD MICROGEL EXTREME TEAM

(Context: 4 to 5 handicap trying to get lower)If don’t think Austin would have used the word “throw” unless he meant to because of all of the negative connotations it has with the conventional swing. I would assume that he meant to use it for its positive affect on the golf swing. The problem that everyone has in implementing, as I see it at this specific moment in time, is that it is somewhat of an advanced move. If you tell someone they can hit it 300+ yards their first instinct is to hit the adrenaline pedal which produces tension. A baseball pitcher, an extreme tennis server, a quarterback, etc. are “slingers”. They often get the nick-name “slinger”. (Roger Federer, Randy Johnson, Brett Favre…)Golf is the only sport that I can think of off of the top of my head that requires power where people talk about using the non-dominant positioned hand/arm to generate power. i.e. “pulling with the left hand”. I guess you could point to a one handed backhand in tennis but that isn’t considered the power stroke. If you were to “cast” as a pitcher you would have bad results, but they don’t tell you to work on your opposite shoulder. You are told to fix your throwing motion or your release. (Based on experience) As a baseball pitcher, to develop speed and accuracy, you have to get rid of tension in the arm and in the hand holding the ball. You also have to use the rest of your body to really generate speed. Your arm doesn’t release too early but at the right time, which I can only say comes from practicing. There are a few naturals, more who are athletic who can develop it, and many who never get it quite right but get better. I didn’t have better accuracy until I learned to relax. The by-product was speed. When you are throwing almost anything, getting rid of tension allows you to make a more consistent delivery. Adjusting/aligning the rest of the body to have the correct “throwing plane” may be the harder part. That is assuming you have the correct throwing motion with the arm.If my tension is off, I can always see it on 1/4 and 1/2 wedge shots. My personal bad habits are, throwing the hands early, body out in front pulling, a clanky sounding shot, ball comes off lower and shorter…When the tension is correct the ball comes off higher (on my wedges mentioned above) and lands softer, the wrists smoothly release with an action that speeds up like a “swoosh”. I still ask myself, why can’t I do it like that every time.Would I tell the average golfer to try throwing it? Almost never. It may work for the immediate round, but will probably do damage in the long wrong. My dad was recently told to move his hips faster to generate power. He looked like a screw trying to dig himself into the ground with all sorts of bad results. With any move, without the complete context it can always lead to dangerous results. On the other hand, why do we keep going out to the golf course? For many, it is to hit that drive 300+ yard drive somewhere close to the fairway. Just don’t spoil your partner’s round by telling them the tees were moved up 20 yards and cutting the dog leg cut off another 15 to 20.So, if you are going to throw it: Pick the target, let the tension run out, think of the club head like a ball and throw the energy down the target line. Just a thought: If everyone is so intrigued by the Austin swing to come over to it, why do they want to stay away from the “throwing” concept which seems to be so central to it? Is it like not confronting your worst fear so that you aren’t afraid of it anymore? Don’t get me wrong, I am nervous about really going for it on this concept. On the other hand, I have already walked the plank and have no one here locally to go to for help, which is why I travel to Atlanta to see John Marshall.I don’t think it is possible to hit 350+ yard drives without throwing it, but nobody wants that “bad image” in their head of getting out of control. Maybe we just call it slinging.Slinging Good? Throwing Bad?Think happy thoughts? Tin Cup?Just my 2 cents working out my own issues.
