A Little History of Table Tennis

Table tennis is a game inside the origin of England. And like other sports, table tennis was played as a mere diversion social at the beginning of time. This is a game that was appreciated by the Victorian upper class families in the 19th century. Table Tennis comes with a number of names, including "Flim flam," "Misty" and "whif whaf." Meanwhile, players simply use a dining table, a net, and a set of boxes to play the game. Only in 1901 when a formal set of table tennis equipment was sold under the brand name "Ping-Pong." To play table tennis, a ball, a net an official of ping-pong, and a paddle for each player are all required.

At present, table tennis is a sport internationally recognized. The International Table Tennis Federation, or simply the ITTF, governing all the rules and tournaments worldwide. Table tennis can be played either in singles or doubles. It follows a rule very similar to lawn tennis. The players use small rackets called paddles, which both sides can be covered with rubber. A slight hollow ball of celluloid that is commonly used. The main goal of the game is to volley the ball from one side of the table to another.

Game skills and strategies are needed to effectively play table tennis. The spin of the ball, its location on the table, and speed it moves are very essential. Different ways to hold the racket, like the handful of style, the pen-hold, and shake hands with style May determine the player level of competence. And to be good ping-pong, players must master both defensive and offensive moves. The game begins with a service. The player must bounce the ball on its side of the table between his side without hitting the net.

The player earns one point if his opponent fumbles or has been unable to return the ball to him. It is important that the ball bounced once on the player and his opponent both sides of the table. It is illegal to hit the ball before it reaches the table. If the player hit the ball too hard it sort of limits, then the other player is the point. The area of the table serves as a border.

Table tennis is very popular in Asia. In fact, Chinese and Koreans currently dominate the sport. They had successfully dethroned the reign of European players from France, Sweden and Hungary. Table tennis became an official game in the Olympic Games in 1988.
