Junior Tennis Net

Playing D3 college tennis?
hey guys I am a junior in HS, and am certainly interested in playing Tennis at the collegiate level. My two top schools are NYU and Carnegie Mellon. both D3.
I am ranked in the top 1000 in the nation for boys 16s(50 something in NY-State), a "2 star recruit" on tennis recruiting.net, and I am possibly an all-county player( Suffolk on LI).
how competitive is the play on the D3 level? I've heard a range of answers, some saying that it's barely a notch above HS and others claiming it's very tough.
what would be the best way to "get recruited" for tennis? if thats even possible on the D3 level. Should I send a video of match play? or arrange a tryout with the coach?
Thanks
