Tennis help! I really need it. help?
alright so, i have this racket. Its a head microgel raptor MP. its head heavyish right now. I have a huge problem working with it and i dont really want to give it up.
My problems so far are:
too much shock
bad feel
hard to backhand slice
my forehands arent as fast as this other racket i used (Prince warrior w/ long dampener) <-- friends racket and i work pretty well with it
Is it because of my dampener ? I have a small one. Not the long ones that go on like 6 strings. Mine goes on two. But anyway, im really struggling over this. Im starting to lose my tennis game, even though i started out pretty well. Being only my second year playing.
ps: does anyone advise lead tape?
is it also because its head heavy ? I used head heavy rackets before i dont perform well when compared to head light
When a racket is head heavy, your groundstrokes are actually supposed to have more pace and spin. The different dampener may account for the increase in shock that you are experiencing. Also you should have compared the specs of the racket you purchased. The Raptor is alot lighter than your old tt warrior. Your old TT warrior was 11.2 ounces strung while your Microgel Raptor is only 9 ounces unstrung. You might want to lead tape it to get the weight back to where you like it, but you'd be putting a decent amount of lead tape on your racket. Your backhand slice is just a deficiency in your form.
SUMMARY:
Your new racket is a lot lighter than your old racket which accounts for why you think you aren't getting as much pace. It also accounts for some of the increased shock you're experiencing. Lead tape is a good idea, but i suggest you get a racket that is more similar to the TT warrior's specs. Backhand slice is just your fault. Work on it?

Does a racket generally come with...?
a case when bought?
I'm fairly new to tennis, I joined the team at my school a couple of months ago. My first racket was a crappy head eclipse that I bought at Target for around $20. I now feel like I've gotten to a much better level and feel that I will go on to play more, so today I bought a Head Microgel Raptor MP racket online.
So, I was wondering, do rackets usually come with a case? One that just accommodates the racket and has like a shoulder strap?
I ask this because my first one didn't come with one and the majority of people have one.

also I find it kinda creepy that first responder as the same first name and last initial as me.
It truthfully depends. If you ordered a nice racket from online it will probably come with a basic case that only holds that one racket or it may not come with any case. If you want a nicer case you will have to buy it seperatly.
