Green Clay Tennis Courts

Can playing on clay with regular (green) tennis balls be compared to playing with orange balls on HARD court?
I've once practiced with those orange tennis balls on a hard court and they spin faster and bounce differently. Is that pretty much what playing on clay like?
I've never played on clay before, can't find one near where I live.
i'm sure its got a few simialrities but i wouldnt practice with them and presume they are exactly like clay, as clay tends to have an unpredictable bounce at times and every clay court is different.

Volley (Tennis) $79.66 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A volley in tennis is a shot that is hit before the ball bounces on the ground. Generally a player hits a volley while standing near the net, although there are instances where it is executed farther back, in the middle of the tennis court or even near the baseline. The primary objective of the volley is to go on the offensive, cutting the opponents reaction time. The opponent will have much less time to chase down the ball from a volley. Another consideration is that, by volleying, a player eliminates any possibility of a bad bounce from an uneven surface such as those on some grass and clay courts. Also, while being near the net, the volleyer has a wider choice of angles to hit into the opponents court. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Help sliding on clay tennis courts?
Well, I'm a twelve year old boy who just got finished playing my first clay court tennis tournament. I won the tournament but I never slided. Well never slided on purpose. I played on the green kind and just never seemed to get the hang of sliding. Is it too early 4 me 2 start sliding? R there tricks I need 2 know? 10 easy points for the most detailed answer i get!
sliding is good to do so you can recover to your next shot quicker. As far as age, it's not like you are trying to throw a cure ball or put alot of stress on your joints so go for it. Many times when you want to slide into the shot is when you are stretched out wide and/ or do not have proper time to get to your shot. depending on your skill level and where you are with your game depends on which foot you slide with, most common would be the back foot, and hit an open stance shot. i.e. if you are a right hander going for a forehand push off your left foot and slide with your right. This way you can still close your shoulders during take back (which should be done when running), and take a normal swing. I hope this answers some of your questions.
