Director Tennis
I'm entering a tennis tournament...the tennis director just asked me what my tennis rating is?
He said the tourney will have some 3's and 3.5's?? What the heck does that mean?
And how would I know what my rating is? I played one year of collegiate tennis, and I've never heard of this rating stuff...
If it was a D3 college, and you were able to be competitive with others out there, your minimum ranking would be 4.5.
Basically, if the tourney has 3's and 3.5's, you'll probably be able to blow them all off the courts. You ought to find a 4.5 or 5.0 tourney.

Basically, the NTRP system is a self-rating system set up so that players will be able to find others at a similar level. So they'll set up tourneys by level, so that you aren't going up against people who destroy your, or those who aren't even worth your time. But yeah, according to the chart, if you played in D2 or D3 programs in college, you may not self-rate lower than 4.5.

I am sorry to hear about the pros being released from World Tennis Center. It is the trend here in Naples. To give you a little back ground, I was in Tucson, Az. and contacted by Escalante Golf owner's of Tarpon Cove Yacht and Racquet Club. I did not apply for the position of Director of Tennis by after 2 weeks I was considered the position. During my time at Tarpon Cove, I and my staff made Tarpon Cove the number 1 club in Naples for member's programs. We had 21 teams and there was 550 players per week on the courts. (in season). Off season we had the ladies boot camp which ran for the summer and was full each week. Tennis did more business than the club house. Clubs in Naples must understand that it is the members that make a club and that the tennis pro is very important to the success of the club.
Darlene, I wish you the best during you stay in Naples. It is still a great place.
