What are the other names for a tennis racquet's shock absorbers? how do they work?
eg. vibration dampers.
other names for it. i need to buy for my racquet bc it didn't come with a shock absorber and i don't know other terms for it
also if you can, please explain how they work.

The vibration dampener works because of its placement on the racquet. It sits in the middle of the mains and below the bottom cross. Basically, it sits there and absorbs vibrations from the strings. If you play with one and then without one, you will notice a difference in the sound at impact. Shock absorbers make a duller sound (due to the decrease in vibrations).
They won't do anything to reduce the vibration from the frame itself. People will use them because they can alter the feel of the racquet slightly.
You don't really need to have one on your racquet (there are plenty of people who play perfectly fine without one), and any absorber will work on any racquet.

Each company will claim that theirs works the best, but that can be up for debate. I use the Gamma No Shock, and I can attest that it works, but any of them should get the job done.
