In CA, is it true cops get a day off to go to court when you go to fight a traffic ticket?

Theres this one cop I know of thats always out there giving traffic tickets. Im thinking he's doing that so he can get paid days off to "go" to court.

They don't get the day off they get a lazy day work schedule.
