Body Tennis Racquet How do you use your body in tennis?
I know you have to be relaxed but when when you re going to hit your forehand do you first straighten your knees then turn your shoulders and then torso and finally your arm and racquet hits the ball with great amount of speed or the arm with racquet starts first to the ball and then all other parts of the body can someone explain that to me. Also for serve and backhand. How this bio-mechanic of tennis work. Thanks
I m not saying when you are preparing you of course bend your knees turn your torso and shoulder i m thinking when you are going to hit from that stance(knees bent,shoulder and torso turned) do you first start to straight your knees then your hips and start turning your torso and shoulder and then hit ball with your arm
Well if you wanna be a "generic" USTA player and be taught by "geniric losers" go ahead and listen to these chums. If you dont then listen.
Swinging doesnt maximize power, look at human physics. The human body has so many muscles. At the USTA or ATP coachbook they say oh you twist your sholders around. Sure they say this because they teach to swing around that MAKES the sholders twist. You not only lose manuverablity, responsive movement, and real control. If you ever watch sport-science on FSN you can see that real power starts at the legs. Thus you should always use a wave type transfer of energy. Start at the legs twist your hips,move that energy toward your sholders and then from the sholder out your fingers like a whip. Whips dont strike well with a throwback and throw. Its a chain reaction.
Moving foward when hitting the ball also increases power. How you think those guys in the 30's-60s hit well? they moved foward with the hit and moved toward the net. This not only shortens your time swinging but makes the time for reaction less for you opponent. This applys for both forehand and backhand.
Serve well dont listen to these chums as well. "bend you knees, yada yada". What you doing bending your knees for? Milking a cow? BS.
Look at fed or roddick. Not only they both use the bow-and-arrow technique but they use different angles of elbow to sholder ratio.Fed whips the ball while roddick muscles it. Why? roddick listens to USTA guys and has come up with his serve. Not to say its horrible but too much of a waste of energy. Sure he hit for 140 but wheres placement? Fed has placement. The serves should come from the hips, lowerback, pecks, sholders then then arm. Jumping isnt needed. Fish and blake dont jump they just rotate their hands, what do they make? 120-130 serves. Jumps isnt needed, useful but not needed. Fed doesnt jump as high as roddick but has better placement. Jumping is only useful for placement or position of the serve.
