Babolat Puredrive Cortex
Why is my racquet lighter than my other racquet (they're both the same)?
Well i have two babolat puredrive cortex racquets and one is lighter than the other. I don't understand how they are different in weight. The part I really don't understand about my racquets is that on the lighter one (A to easier distinguish the two) has leadtape and a wider grip than my other one, B. I bought A a year before I bought B and the only thing I can possibly think of is that the scratches and wearing from hitting the ground, etc. caused this. After examining it, racquet A isn't really that beat up but it's still lighter. It would make more sense if A weighed more than B because of the added leadtape and the slightly wider grip right? If anyone has any insights to why this is possible could someone please tell me? Thanks in advanced.
Oh and also, the strings are pretty much exactly the same except for the crosses, but it still wouldn't make that much of a difference because the difference in weight between A and B is quite a lot and very noticeable when I play with it.
Tennis racquets are mass produced by machine and there is no way every one will have the same exact weight. I own three racquets of the same model and they are all different as far as weight goes. You can tinker with strategic placement of lead tape at the head, throat or handle to get the same balance and feel in each one or you can take your racquets to a Master Racquet Technician and have them do it for you.
