Air Flow

What is the Difference betweem Cv and CFM in Air flow?
I have two solenoid air valves. One has a Cv value for flow and other CFM value. Are they related somehow?
The manufacturer publishing a Cv valve for his valve requires a minimum pressure for the thing to operate. If you dont have enough pressure to overcome the pressure drop across the valve, it wont do what its supposed to do.
The other manufacturer requires a minimum volume of air to work. Without enough air flow, this valve wont do what its supposed to do. My guess is that either valve will work providing you have 90-125 psi air pressure available and sufficient flow capacity as stated on the valve.

How do I program the 1997 Nissan Maxima ECM for the new mass air flow sensor I just installed?
I got P0174 on a 1997 Nissan Maxima (fuel system for bank 2 was too lean). I just installed a new mass air flow sensor but it's choking the engine right now. The box came with the MAF sensor says to re-program the ECM (computer controlling the air flow). How can I do that without going to the dealer?
Thanks,
Did some idiot at Auto Zone tell you need a new Mass Air Flow sensor? That is the least likely problem although it could be but doubtful. It's probably an O2 sensor in reality.
It could be an intake leak, the left O2 sensor (which is probably the real issue) low fuel pressure, bad injector or an exhaust leak before it's a mass air flow sensor, however as I said it could be but I doubt it.
The mass air flow sensor is placed in the stream of intake air. It measures the intake flow rate by measuring a part of the entire intake flow. It consists of a hot film that is supplied with electric current from the ECM. The temperature of the hot film is controlled by the ECM a certain amount. The heat generated by the hot wire is reduced as the intake air flows around it. The more air, the greater the heat loss.
Therefore, the ECM must supply more electric current to the hot film as air flow increases. This maintains the temperature of the hot film. The ECM detects the air flow by means of this current change.
Driving the vehicle will help the ECM relearn the new sensor in most cases. You shouldn't have to reprogram it. It may be a bad sensor too by the way. Especially from Auto Zone

try disconecting and reconnecting your battery it typicly resets the computer so your car can learn all your air to fuel ratio's and your driving style again or make sure the mass air sensor is functioningf properly
I’ve had it to two Toyota dealerships who have said the codes indicate anything from a catalytic converter fouling to some vacuum leak somewhere. Neither dealership was able to come up with what was exactly causing the CEL much less a solution. Looking on some Celica user groups as well as talking to some local tuners, a common thought is that the cai is causing the code and that there is basically nothing I can do about it. The car also hesitates very badly after pressing on the accelator when cold.I was hoping for your thoughts. A pic of the engine (and the car) is posted on Autotrader under 77632 zip code. Thanks,Mark Q]]>
