Aero Storm Tour i need help finding the right racquet?
i like the racquet i have right now, babolat aero storm tour, but i would like a racquet with a little more power, any suggetions on what racquets i might want to look into and demo
Before you go and buy a new racquet on a whim, have you done everything possible to make this one work? This is a great player's frame, and will work very well for you, especially as you improve. It'll force you to learn to provide your own power, and also how to control the ball. I'd say don't replace the racquet, just try some new configurations.
The easiest way to change the racquet's feel is by changing how it's strung. If you want to add a little power for now, string a little looser. Then as you are able to create the power on your own, you just increase the tension little by little, and get back the racquet's full control potential.
The other thing to look at would be the strings themselves. For power, nothing beats the Luxilon Big Banger ALU Power. Be wary though, if you string the whole thing with these, it could get pretty harsh to use. If that's the case, make a hybrid set with it as the mains, and a softer string as the crosses. Just talk to a coach or stringer at a local pro shop or club and they can help guide you to a good hybrid set.
Trust me: It's a lot cheaper to change your string job than to replace the whole racquet. And, after you improve, you'll be glad you still have that frame cause you'll be able to reap the full benefits.
